About the line
What happens when I call?
You give your ZIP code and describe the damage. If your ZIP code is covered, you are connected with an independent restoration contractor.
Who do I pay?
Any agreement and payment is between you and the contractor. This site takes nothing from homeowners.
Is the site a contractor?
No. It is a referral line.
Does the line cover fire and mold?
Yes. The program covers water, fire and mold damage.
About the damage
How fast does mold start?
The state health department advises that porous materials left wet longer than 24 to 48 hours are likely to grow mold.
Can I stay in the house?
It depends on the source. Sewage and electrical hazards are reasons to leave.
Do I call my insurer first?
Report the loss promptly. You can call this number the same day.
About hiring
How do I check a license?
Use the Contractors State License Board lookup or call (800) 321-CSLB. Match the name to a photo ID.
Should I sign right away?
Read the contract first. The board lists what it should contain and says not to sign a blank or partly blank one.
Water in the house right now?
Call, give your ZIP code, and say what happened. You will be connected with an independent restoration contractor. Calling early gives you more choices than calling after the damage has spread.
